Hi
I have been a user of the Garmin GPS Legend HCx and have been very happy with its performance.
As a newbe to this forum I was looking for some help as I can't figure out how my copy of ExpertGPS is behaving as it is. I'm from N Ireland & I've set up the particular preferences for the Ireland OS Map within preferences.
I have scanned part of an OS map, then calibrated it & finally have inserted my GPS track. The problem is that each time I try to do this the track is showing way off to the left of the actual scanned map. I have tried the same exercise with Google earth and it works perfectly there.
Is there something very simple like changing a setting that I'm missing. I have only recently purchased ExpertGPS and was looking forward to being able to use it on a weekly basis with my rambling group.
Can anyone help please and suggest a solution. Will be very grateful if someone can help at this time.
Also has anyone ever produced a user's guide for ExpertGPs even for an earlier version that would help me in learning this program?

Regards

Subject: Detailed Introduction of Huawei E960 Gateway - by: modemjane

TheHuawei E960 wireless gateway (http://www.modem3g.com/e960-router-p-37.html?utm_source=forum&utm_medium=jane&utm_campaign=Huawei%2BE960%2Bwireless%2Bgateway) supports HSDPA/WCDMA 2100, GSM/GPRS/EDGE 1900/1800/900/850, and network auto-switch. With the E960 Router, you can experience the wireless gateway and USB modem functions at any time and any place.

The Huawei E960 Gateway is powerful 3G modem that you can use it to get connected internet in your home with the ability to support LAN or USB connectivity. The method of application is the same as others, we just need to put in a mobile SIM card that will have been activated for 3G data services, after the setting, Huawei E960 will make our homes or offices into the wireless hotspot environment, and it will support several device concurrently. This is not a bad way for people who desire to enjoy fast reliable internet to many devices without having to do many preparations before the connection in their living room or office or other places.

Circumstantiate speaking; the Huawei E960 Gateway is capable of supporting connections to 4 desktop computers via Ethernet and 2 devices via a wireless network.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6198/6152635454_fa7d39ed81.jpg

So many people must pay lots of attentions to how to set up WiFi network with Huawei E960, the methods are listed as follows: type http://192.168.1.1 in the address of browser, then input “admin” into the password box and click the “login” button, select “Advanced Settings” on the left side of the menu of administrator page, then choose the “WLAN Enable” icon from screen, after that, choose “Enabled” and click “Apply” button, wait until the device has saved the changes of the above ways, and click “Continue” button. It’s all set up for the WLAN network now.

And Huawei E960 wireless gateway contains two working mode: wireless gateway mode and USB mode. Regarding the first mode, it may be not very familiar for somebody, and the operation is as shown in the below figure. Insert the SIM Card, connect to the power adapter, then connect to a PC, if the indicator of the Ethernet interface connecting with a network cable is on, the connection is successful. The Ethernet cable cannot be longer than 100 meters (328 feets). For better effect, please use the shield cable. Remarks: Connect it to a telephone to avoid the call effect from the interfering by the wireless signal, please place the telephone set one meter away from the Huawei E960.

The USB mode is very simple, directly connect the Huawei E960 and computer with a compatible USB data cable, then the computer will automatically identify the hardware. And we should install the Mobile Partner program.

Huawei E960 supports Windows 2000, XP Vista operating systems, and 7.2 download speeds, if you have any further questions, please download huawei e960 user guide (http://www.3gmodem.com.hk/Download/E960.pdf?utm_source=forum&utm_medium=jane&utm_campaign=huawei%2Be960%2Buser%2Bguide) here.

Subject: How to Troubleshoot the Connection Issues of USB M - by: modemjane

Do you have a USB modem, such as EDGE modem, GSM Modem, EVDO Modem or WCDMA/UMTS modem (http://www.modem3g.com/huawei-3g-modem.html?utm_source=forum&utm_medium=jane&utm_campaign=WCDMA%2FUMTS%2Bmodem)? Most people are enjoying the fantastic experience of surfing internet by wireless network from one USB modem with one SIM card. If you had never come across any problems and gained high speed connection, you are really very lucky to have a reliable modem. However, not all the users can connect network smoothly, they may face many many problems, something like this or that. And what’s worse, they don’t know how to do and who could help. That’s really a big headache if you need the network for urgent matters. In this artile, we take Huawei USB modem (http://www.modem3g.com/huawei-3g-modem.html?utm_source=forum&utm_medium=jane&utm_campaign=Huawei%2BUSB%2Bmodem) as example to guide you to find the problems.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6171/6183043119_9a8cab03f7.jpg

Below the steps to how to troubleshoot the problem of your modem:

1. Have you correctly inserted the SIM card into the USB Modem?

Please ensure the SIM card is correctly inserted. The “gold plate” on the SIM card must

be making contact with the pins on the modem.

2. Have you correctly attached the USB modem to the USB 2.0 ports on the PC?

Although in most cases only one of the USB plugs will need to be plugged in, in some cases both will need to be put in. Please ensure your system meets the minimum system requirements (you may check by clicking on ‘System Requirements’ on 3G Wireless Broadband page).

3. Once the USB Modem is correctly attached to the PC, are there any lights flashing?

Please ensure the SIM card is correctly inserted and USB connectors are plugged into a USB 2.0 port (USB 1.0 will not work), also make sure the USB cables are plugged into the same ports that installation took place on (you may need to swap ports). If you are still experiencing a problem, please try the modem on another PC to ensure it is working

OK.

4. Confirm there are no USB / PC resource Port conflicts.

Please check the modem / PC port status as follows:

Windows XP:

Start -> Control Panel -> System (may need to switch to classic view) -> Hardware Tab -> Device Manager

Windows Vista:

Start -> Control Panel -> System (may need to switch to classic view)-> Device

Manager (in the left menu)

• Expand The "Modems" Section:

Ensure "HUAWEI Mobile Connect - 3G Modem" is listed.

• Expand the "Ports (COM LPT)" section:

Ensure "HUAWEI Mobile Connect - 3G PC UI Interface (COM [port#]) is listed.

• Expand the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" section:

Ensure all the valid USB ports are listed.

Subject: Get Portable Wireless Internet (modem router) with - by: modemjane

With the increased use of smartphone you no longer have to haul your laptop PC with you to establish connectivity to the Internet while you are on the go. ZTE Skate smartphone (http://www.modem3g.com/zte-skate-android-smartphone.html?utm_source=forum&utm_medium=jane&utm_campaign=ZTE%2BSkate%2Bsmartphone)devices that are Internet-ready and fit in your pocket have become extremely popular and make it easy to access your messages, collaborate with others, and surf the Web.

Portable wireless Internet on your smartphone is very affordable and allows you to access the Internet from anywhere and at any time without having to search for a public Wi-Fi access point. So what are some of the ways that you can get portable wireless Internet using your cell phone?

Choose a Cell Phone Wi-Fi Provider

Many of the major cell phone service carriers offer a portable wireless Internet connection when you purchase a cell phone service subscription.

It is important to mention that the services will vary according to the cell phone provider you choose. This means the range of coverage and the speed of data transfer will vary with each provider. Additionally, some providers may not be available in your local area.

Use a Satellite Service

If you want portable wireless Internet anywhere in the world you can also consider a satellite service option.

When you use X SAT the service connects to your laptop PC and then you utilize the service with a ThurayaXT satellite phone. The phone communicates with a satellite device connected to your PC which provides Internet and phone service in any location. This is ideal if you travel a lot personally or professionally where local networks may be intermittent or absent in the area altogether. If you do not want to lug your full-sized laptop with you, instead you can carry a netbook with you which is a small-sized PC that fits in your purse or briefcase. The satellite connection can easily be connected to your netbook without the bulk.

Get a Portable USB Modem

There is a wide variety of modems that you can obtain that plug into the USB port on your laptop PC. Cell phone service providers offer a portable wireless modem (http://www.modem3g.com/huawei-3g-modem.html?utm_source=forum&utm_medium=jane&utm_campaign=portable%2Bwireless%2Bmodem) and some providers have worldwide access. The modem provides you with your own mobile hotspot that allows you to connect to your email, surf the Web, and connect with your friends. The download speed of a USB modem is anywhere from 5 to 12 Mbps depending upon the service you use and the type of modem you have.

Portable Wireless Internet for Multiple Users

If you are in the company of a group of cell phone users that want to access the Internet from any location you can opt to carry a portable wireless router (http://www.modem3g.com/3g-router.html?utm_source=forum&utm_medium=jane&utm_campaign=portable%2Bwireless%2Brouter) known as a MiFi. This is a portable router you can carry with you to allow multiple users Internet access simultaneously. The portable router fits in your pocket and picks up area cell phone signals and converts them into a wireless Internet connection for multiple users.

Hopefully this information will provide you with a few options that are out there for initiating portable wireless Internet connectivity.

I'm wondering if anyone can give me advice on setting up a backtrack wep crack (http://www.wifirobinstore.com/the-backtrack-4-wep-cracking-backtrack-wep-cracking-backtrack-wep-crack) in the field. I'm a biologist and my field assistants and I use mobile devices (iPod Touch) to enter data. I would like these data to be transmitted to a remote server. Supplying each assistant with an iPhone and a mobile plan would be one option, but it's too expensive. Instead, I wondered whether it might be possible to set up a local wpa key crack (http://www.wifirobinstore.com/wpa-key-crack-wpa-wireless-crack) and use the iPod Touch devices with this. The network needs to cover an area of about 700 square metres (about half a mile square). There is a tower at one end of the site which is about 20m (60ft) high, and which has power. We could set up a wireless network device in the tower, but its range is pretty feeble (about 30m/90ft). How can we broadcast wireless wep crack (http://www.wifirobinstore.com/wireless-wep-crack-wireless-wpa-crack) to the entire study site? Several range extenders are one possibility, but each of these would need to be powered by a solar setup, so this could get expensive/complicated quickly. Is there a powerful/economical antenna or other device that could provide us with the coverage we need? Any advice or ideas would be appreciated - thanks!
